I suspect that the church sign above has been photoshopped. But it takes very little searching to discover real anti-Mormon websites and other materials exhorting their audiences absolutely not to pray about the Book of Mormon. So, whether or not the sign is authentic, the sentiment is genuine.
Which puts me in mind of a passage in today’s reading from the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 32:
For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray, ye would know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray. But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always. (verses 8-9)
I also like the idea that we’re supposed to “feast upon the words of Christ” (verse 3). I take it that “feasting” is more than mere “reading,” let alone “glancing through” in a perfunctory and routine way.
What does it mean to “feast” upon scripture? That’s something worthy of personal reflection.
