I really wish that I could hear this lecture tomorrow afternoon, at BYU’s Wheatley Institution, in which the speaker will contend that America is, as a matter of fact and contrary to many predictions and some perceptions, not growing more secular:

Unfortunately, I’m scheduled to speak at precisely the same time, somewhere on the fourth floor of the BYU law building. My topic is religious freedom in the Islamic world, and I’ll be addressing the major donors to the International Center for Law and Religion Studies.
That and subsequent related events will also prevent me from hearing Brother Guy Consolmagno’s Summerhays Lecture, which will be given at 6:30 PM in the Joseph Smith Building Auditorium:
