Although it may appear to be so in this nighttime satellite photo, South Korea isn’t actually an island. Rather, it’s on a peninsula, with water on either side. (The bright spot in the upper left is the capital city of Seoul.) The dark space above South Korea is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, a state controlled socialist economy that, umm, is somewhat behind in terms of electrification and industrialization.

Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive,

But to be young was very heaven!

The attraction of a country in romance!
