Fascinated by his own sheer gorgeousness, Narcissus fails to notice the beautiful nymph nearby.

It confirms suspicions that I’ve long had, being myself a crotchety old geezer of the type who, no doubt, hates, envies, and fears both young people and independent thinking.  And it’s a bit worrisome.

 

Could it, I speculate aloud, be related to the rise of the religious “nones” — who are particularly well represented among the younger age cohort?
