In the wake of Friday’s leaked Trump tapes, additional allegations have now begun to surface. I can’t vouch for their truth, but they seem to be sprouting up like lawn mushrooms — in a way that they never did surrounding, say, Mitt Romney or, for that matter, Barack Obama. I take no particular pleasure in bringing such things to your attention, but I think voters ought to be aware:
New York Times: “Two Women Say Donald Trump Touched Them Inappropriately”
And there’s a third woman:
“Donald Trump Reportedly Treated Miss USA Contestants Like ‘Property'”
And there’s a fourth woman:
“Palm Beach Post exclusive: Local woman says Trump groped her”
And, now, a fifth woman:
“Physically Attacked by Donald Trump – A PEOPLE Writer’s Own Harrowing Story”
Mr. Trump — who, he says, respects women very, very much — also apparently liked to walk unannounced into the dressing room at the Miss USA pageant, and he boasted afterwards about what he saw:
“Peeping Don? Ex-Beauty Queen Says Trump Burst In While Contestants Were Changing”
And then there’s this:
“Lawsuit Charges Donald Trump with Raping a 13-Year-Old Girl”
Permit me to write up at least some of the responses that Trumpists will offer to these items. Perhaps I can save them some time and effort:
“It’s only words, of course. Probably planted by the Republican Establishment. The timing is suspicious. And, anyway, all of us are imperfect. Boys will be boys. All men are like this. Make America great again!”
