Russia, Tillerson, “Never Trump,” the Real World, and “Emoluments”

Russia, Tillerson, “Never Trump,” the Real World, and “Emoluments”

The US Constitution, not the boat
I’m rather fond of this quaint old document, and wish more people (especially politicians) were acquainted with it.  (Wikimedia Commons)

Despite having been recently forbidden by one of my readers ever to post on political subjects again, I’m going to plunge ahead and do it nonetheless.

Two items from David French on the Trump administration’s orientation toward Vladimir Putin and Russia:

“How Russia Wins”

“The Trouble with Tillerson”

And, since I’ve been asked how “Never Trump” people like me are intending to respond to the ascendancy of Trumpism, I share this:

“No, Trump’s Conservative Critics Have Not Been ‘Destroyed’ or Silenced”

Which, in turn, cites this:

“The Parochial Progressive Obsession with Ayn Rand”

Another item:  I’m not a regular MSNBC viewer, nor do MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and I see eye to eye on most political issues.  But this nearly-fourteen-minute video on the seemingly large gap between many Trump supporters and . . . well, reality is absolutely fascinating:

And, last but not least I mention to you as a final bonus the so-called “ineligibility clause” or “emoluments clause” (Article 1, Section 6, Clause 2) of the Constitution of the United States of America, which, as we begin to learn more about Mr. Trump’s business interests and business partners in such nations as Turkey and the Philippines, may become a matter of controversy.
