When, back in 1997 or 1998, we learned that the Southern Baptist Convention was planning to hold its 1998 annual national meeting in Salt Lake City — a place that has been blessed with relatively few Baptists — and that it was planning a massive attempt to convert Latter-day Saints to Christianity© — we at what was then called the Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormons Studies (FARMS) decided to proactively prepare some materials for that event.

Here’s one of the short essays that we published in that connection:

“Do Latter-day Saints believe that men and women can become gods?”

Although Robert L. Millet and Noel B. Reynolds are listed as its authors, they didn’t write this one.  I did.  Noel and Bob were the overall editors for the little book of essays that we prepared under the title of Latter-day Christianity: 10 Basic Issues, and I believe (though my memory may be faulty here) that they each wrote one or two of the ten themselves.
