“Skewed Study Claims Atheist Children Are More Altruistic than ‘Religious’ Children”

A 2016 view of Honolulu taken on 16 March 2016 by NASA astronaut Tim Kopra. In the upper right is the volcanic crater (or, perhaps more accurately, the volcanic tuff cone) that is known (particularly in its iconic appearance from downtown Honolulu) as Diamond Head. Toward the upper left is the partially collapsed crater or tuff cone known today (rather redundantly, since “hana” means “bay” in Hawaiian) as the popular snorkeling area of Hanauma Bay.

A few days ago, somebody threw the study referred to here in my face, as further proof of the evils of religion:

Since the sudden, premature death of Andrew Breitbart, which led to the eventual emergence of Breitbart News as the Trumpist equivalent of L’Osservatore Romano, I haven’t exactly been a fan.  But Dr. Thomas Williams shouldn’t necessarily be held responsible for the sins of Steve Bannon and the alt-right.

And, anyway, see also this little piece by Dr. William Briggs:

“Are Religious Kids Really Less Altruistic?”

I’m hoping, hereby, to warn some of those off who might otherwise be inclined to hurl this study by Jean Decety at me in the future, imagining that Professor Decety has settled the matter once and for all.
