On Tuesday, 25 September 2018, Royal Skousen spoke on the campus of Brigham Young University about the just-published two-book The Nature of the Original Language, parts 3 and 4 of volume 3 of the Book of Mormon Critical Text Project, in an event that was co-sponsored by BYU Studies and the Interpreter Foundation. The lecture included additional commentary by Dr. Stanford Carmack, Professor Skousen’s collaborator in authoring and researching these two new books.

The two new books are available for purchase from BYU Studies, the joint publisher of these books along with the Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies (FARMS), at https://byustudies.byu.edu/content/nature-original-language-book-mormon-parts-3-and-4-volume-iii-book-mormon-critical-text.

We are pleased to make the video of Dr. Skousen’s presentation available on the Interpreter Foundation website.

In a presentation at the 2018 FairMormon Conference, Dr. Jeffrey Mark Bradshaw, one of the vice presidents of the Interpreter Foundation, shared stories of some of the faithful Saints in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Kinshasa). In a new series of presentations, he speaks from a more personal perspective, reflecting on the meaning of that experience for him and his wife, and pondering some of the dynamics of numerical and spiritual growth of the Church in that country.

The series is organized into eight parts, two of which are now available online:

  1. Prologue: What brought us to Africa?
  2. Snapshot of the Church in the DR Congo
  3. The missionaries
  4. What attracts people to the Church?
  5. Building from centers of strength — Kisangani
  6. Building from centers of strength — Wagenya and elsewhere
  7. The temple: A light to the world
  8. “The labourers are few”

Part two begins with a description of some interesting and little-known facts about the Democratic Republic of the Congo today, followed by a brief account of the beginnings and amazing growth of the Church in the country:
