I’ve found it weirdly amusing but also occasionally (very slightly) irritating to be cast by some as a fearful, narrow-minded, literalistic irrationalist, inclined to fundamentalism.  So, I know, does Dr. Hancock.  But there are some things worthy of conserving, and one needs to consider these matters reflectively.
