I think he has a point.

I’m writing from the former Soviet sector of (East) Berlin, which still shows unmistakable material traces of nearly five decades of Communist rule.  I fear, especially given the poor quality (and, sometimes, the ideological character) of historical and political instruction in many American schools and colleges, that American young people don’t understand the lessons of the past.
