I’ve already noted that we spent a fair amount of time early today in the Georgia O’Keefe Museum.
After that we all went to Baja Tacos for lunch. Excellent. No atmosphere at all. In fact, no place to sit inside. Drive-through and some tables and benches out in front. But the food is well worth blogging about. (Incidentally, the sit-down restaurant where we ate lunch yesterday is called The Shed, and it too provided some really good Mexican dishes.)
After Baja Tacos, we headed about a block down the road to Jackalope Mercado, a gathering of independent vendors selling New Mexico arts and crafts, imports from various countries, and so on. I don’t like to shop, but this was a genuinely fun place, with loads of interesting things to look at — including a glass blower and, of all things, a fairly large prairie dog community.

In the evening, three of us went to the Santa Fe Opera for a splendid production of Verdi’s Rigoletto. With the exception of one truly odd directorial miscue, it was superbly done, powerfully sung, emotionally complex, riveting. And, of course, the setting is remarkable and unique.
