I continue my quest to be your sole source not only for political and religious viewpoints, but movies, operas, restaurants, and travel destinations. Now you can concentrate on your job and family, and leave all that other stuff — like thinking — to me.
After all, I’m a blogger. I’m online. Isn’t that all the qualification I need?
So, on to business:
Today was an excellent day for food.
Santa Fe has some fine eateries.
We had brunch just around the corner from where we’re staying, at a little hole in the wall called Clafoutis French Bakery & Restaurant. Wonderful quiche and crepes and French toast with fruit. (As is our wont, we share around the table.)
For dinner, we had superb Indian food at Raaga — again, not too far from our place. (Santa Fe isn’t very big.) In fact, it’s some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. And, as the waiter had suggested, the spinach salad is to die for. Don’t believe me? Don’t think it’s possible? Spinach salad? Seriously?
Try it.

In between meals, we went to the Museum of International Folk Art. It has an enormous and varied collection of objects from all around the world. The organizational principle was opaque to me, and I have to confess that this isn’t my favorite art. But the collection was fascinating. One thing that was notable about it was the recurring religiosity. If I were still doing my “Religion Poisons Everything” entries, I would certainly cite this place as yet another counterexample to Christopher Hitchens’s absurd pronouncement.

We also drove by the Santa Fe campus of St. John’s College. I seriously, seriously considered coming here as an undergraduate. Its famous “Great Books” curriculum intrigued me, and still does.

Then we checked out a few of the many, many, many interesting art galleries on Canyon Road. Great stuff. But it’s sad to be a peasant.
In the evening, we walked through the old town again and listened to music in the plaza. Good, loud fun.
Fun town, altogether.
