On saying “grace” (and, of course, much more)

A street in the old city center here is named after him.

 

And the word grace, in this sense, is obviously cognate with Spanish gracias, Italian grazie, and English gratitude.

 

If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.  (Meister Eckhart, great German mystic, born roughly 1260 near Erfurt)
