Where Montaigne was born, wrote, and died.
The fourteenth-century château in which Michel de Montaigne — who is widely considered the inventor of the personal essay — was born and died burned down in 1885. But soon afterward, though, it was rebuilt in a similar style by the Montaigne family.  (Wikimedia Commons public domain image)
