Change

Change

Where I work, we’re always talking about the “change curve.” This is the process we each go through when we are forced to undergo a change. Business must constantly adapt to a world that is continually in flux.

The change curve model is similar to the Kubler-Ross Stages of Grief model.

  • Denial (this isn’t happening to me!)
  • Anger (why is this happening to me?)
  • Bargaining (I promise I’ll be a better person if…)
  • Depression (I don’t care anymore)
  • Acceptance (I’m ready for whatever comes)

The problem is that as humans, we get comfortable, and we will find ways to defend our well-worn paths.

Are you working for an organization that is undergoing tremendous change right now? No doubt, you’ll see varying levels of response similiar to the outline above. You’ll find some that will run with the new changes, and others that will fight them tooth and nail, even to the point of sabatogue

For Red Letter Believers, change calls for a different response. Our first reaction should be to turn to God. Otherwise, we will fall to our nature instead of we embrace it as part of His growth for our lives.

With Him, we can have the ability to speed up the process so we linger less in some of the uncomfortable stages of change – denial and resistance – and move faster into exploration and commitment.

Do you fear change, or do you embrace it as part of the God’s Great Adventure?
Please, share with a friend if you feel moved.
