Jesus is for losers

Jesus is for losers
“Just as I am
I am needy and dry
Jesus is for losers
The self-made need not apply”
— Steve Taylor

“He that finds his life shall lose it: and he loses his life for my sake shall find it.”
— Jesus

In our world, the rich, the educated and the influential are elevated. The weak, the oppressed and the poor are marginalized. That’s the way of the world.

Among the elevated class are the “enlightened” who have found creative ways to dismiss the Creator. They have constructed boundless theories to prop their claims. Add a billion years here and there, and in their mind, anything is possible – except of course, God.

And those of us that cling to Jesus for the cleansing of our sins, for a right relationship and an eternal destiny are summarily dismissed. We are the ultimate losers in this society.

But that’s just fine. Jesus warned us that we would be mocked, be shamed and even be persecuted for His name sake. If we were of this world, we would be loved by it. But we aren’t – for we have another King and another Kingdom.

But being a loser isn’t so bad. Jesus told us that if we would chose this loser’s way, that in the end, we would win. What we lose, we will find tenfold.

And for the record, I’m just fine losing my constant striving for advantage, for security and for pleasure. They are empty pursuits that caused loses that I could never regain.

Are you a loser, too?

Please, share with a friend if you feel moved.
