“God grant the wisdom to know the difference.”
There is no greater quest in life than wisdom.
Rather than struggling over the decisions in life, I want just to be able to have that institutional gut reaction that is always righteous, always honorable and always proper. The best kind of wisdom is to know what to fix and what to let go. It’s that holy coin toss that always comes up correctly.
When they gave Jesus a piece of money, he saw Caesar’s face and said, “live with it. Pay your taxes.” But when confronted by the circle of bearded accusers, he stood between them and the accused woman. Wisdom.
He let the soldiers drag him to a kangaroo court. “It is as you said,” he told Pilate. But earlier he touched the leper under the scornful eye of the Pharisees. Wisdom.
That sweet mix of understanding and insight has some tremendous personal benefits, benefiting relationships at home and beyond. But the wise person also is a great employee, providing that intangible “X FACTOR” that can make the difference in a company.
Wisdom, God, is what I really need. Hear my prayer.
