Weather has been gorgeous here: mid-70s, with a brisk breeze. Went for a walk this morning to see a few sites around the hotel and convention center. Besides the classic architecture, lovingly preserved, I also saw an iconic figure in the hotel lobby: Msgr. Paul Tighe, who spotted me and came over to say hello. First words out of his mouth: “Is Elizabeth here?” Ha! Yes, I assured him. She arrived late last night. Assemble the minions! Read more

View image | gettyimages.com No. Really. It’s supposed to look like crap. Animal crap. Or, if you prefer, poo. I can’t imagine what compelled someone to think up this stuff. Details: A new shop at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is serving up desserts that look like varieties of animal droppings. Four kinds of poo are now in the case amid the caramel apples and marshmallow treats at Zuri’s Sweets Shop, which opened in the Africa section of the park last week.... Read more

From Diane Korzeniewski at Te Deum Laudemus!: A pro-Medjugorje website in Brazil is reporting that Pope Francis, while in Rio de Janeiro for World Youth Day, made some rather blunt comments concerning Medjugorje, and about activities of the alleged visionaries.  The title of the post says a lot:  “Pope Francis says those who say they see Our Lady have psychological problems and that the seers of Medjugorje lie to the people.”   Now, we are at the mercy of the website... Read more

Seriously:  This weekend, the international women’s rights group, Women on Waves, will launch something called an “abortion drone” into the skies in Frankfurt an der Oder, Germany, fly it about a mile to Slubice Poland, and pepper the country with packets of abortion pills. The stunt is meant to make a statement about the current reproductive rights in Poland, versus the rest of Europe. Access to abortions have been limited since 1993, and currently women are only allowed to have them in the... Read more
