Localize Your Spirit

We are in a bit of chaos right now, slowly transitioning from this big house to the small one.  We’re lucky that we get to take our time to do this.  There’s a lot involved; we’re not just carrying boxes back and forth and giving opinions about lighting fixtures and towel racks, but also withdrawing from the Old and entering the New.  the barn

Here are some of the questions we are asking ourselves:

Who are the spirits of fire there?  Are they the same as here?  The wood is different.  How does that change things?

Who are the old ones?  Which trees have been there longest?  What do they remember?

Where does the water come from?  How’s the watershed?  Who lives in the spring?

Who are the ‘pests’?  Ants?  Rats?  Mice?  Moths?  How will we take care of these pesky spirits?

How do we keep our animals safe from predators?  Who roams the hills at night looking for prey?

What does the earth right *here* want?  and *here*? and *here*?  How can we have a positive effect on the dirt?

Where do the spirits of air nest?  What’s important to them at this time of year?

What sort of devotions are appropriate to the land?  Whose territory are we living in and how can we be ‘good neighbors’ to them?

It is our intention to be thoughtful inhabitants of the Barn and the Farm.  Intelligent and friendly interaction with our hosts and our Hosts is key.

Beloved Mother and Father, bless our Changes.  Help us to stay openhearted and motivated.  Keep us mindful of your presence in all mysteries and mistakes.  Bless us and blessed be!
