– More on Intelligent Design, Einstein, and Vedanta

Intelligent Design:

To me the discussion of this Intelligent design was summed up pretty well in one episode of Larry King live. It had a few “right-wing” Christian scientists who insisted that Bible’s view was good.. some though said Darwin cannot completely explain the origin theory and that there was existence of “God”. Deepak Chopra was also next to Larry King.. and in my view he really put it best. He agreed that Intelligent Design is there as in ‘some Universal Consciousness” .. who or what that is .. is a question..

In fact isnt THAT exactly the question that all the Prophets, Saints, “Super souls” or Gurus.. tried to answer for us? If WE could NOT get that education… how do we think can we impart that to our kids! Moreover “understanding” or realizing “Intelligent Design” is an Exploration.. it CANNOT be learn or taught.. it can only be experienced!

Einstein and Vedanta:

When I was in college … I had a Chemistry Prof who was rather old. He had studied in Punjab Univ in Lahore before partition. He had once attended a conference addressed by Satyen Bose (of the Bose-Einstein Theorem). He in that conference seems to have remarked that Einstein got the inspiration for his Nobel Prize winning Photo-electric effect theory from Vedanta. And this is how he said Why? Einstein once read an annecdote of how Ramakrishna helped Vivekananda see/feel enlightenment by putting his foot on his body… and after that remarked.. something to the effect that the power I had … I have passed on to you.. as God does not transfer in percentage.. but in completeness. Which made Einstein think.. that if “God” which is a manifestation of Energy could move like a “package”…. could light also have a similar nature? That was the first time that anyone proposed that light had “Dual” Nature! Some thing that Vedanta has been saying all along… that mass and energy – or the Gross and the Subtle – are but manifestations of the same.

I cant verify this annecdote.. but I have googled and found once that Victor DID seems to have written something on Vedanta.. and that Ramakrishna did touch Vivekananda by foot.. and made him “expereience” the “other world”… but I havent found any other linkage …

Having said this.. I am reading lectures given by Vivekananda these days.. which had been documented.. in one of those.. he remarks that transfer of electronic signals WIRELESSLY is possible.. and we havent done it because we dont know about it.. in the context of how “Kundalini” can be brought alive through “Sushumna” (which is a “hollow” area in the spine).. and this btw, was many years BEFORE.. modern science actually “discovered” wireless signals!!

In yet another speech – he seems to imply that “perfect Symmetry” and equilibrium would destroy creation as we know it. A friend of mine who is an IIT/Phd theoretical physics person… seemed to agree that the present day physics also agrees that before the Big Bang or the origin was what the scientists now call.. Symmetrical Universe. Which was “distrubed” .. and which really did “create” the Universe. Another Vedantic book “Vasistha Yoga” published by SUNY publishing.. also implies the same theory on origins..

So is Vedanta bunk? I dont know… but heck.. it has an eerie resemblance to what the Modern day scientists are discovering as they “know” more.
