Milky way is our Galaxy of stars which includes the Sun. Some folks can actually see the white (milky remember!) arc above at night. I cannot. I have always lived in big cities! Somehow the lights on the ground wipe out the milky brilliance of our Galaxy.
Since it is Milky White and circular shaped it almost looks like a halo. Well, thats how we would have wanted our abode to be anyways. We earthlings have created the Creator and he HAS A HALO! So, we get it too. Some call it the “Halo Effect”!
Now, our Halo-fied Galaxy has been upto some mischief lately. It has been stealing some stars from this decidedly “loser” globular cluster called Messier 12 within the constellation Ophiuchus!
We guys are smart to have placed such a loser constellation next to us to start with! Wikipedia informs us that “Of the 13 zodiacal constellations (constellations that contain the Sun during the course of the year), Ophiuchus is the only one which is not counted as an astrological sign”. Heck if you are the ONLY constellation out of 13 who cannot even get a zodiac sign named after you, you are quite frankly .. well.. OUT OF LUCK!!
Plus this bloke goes around with a snake around him! Well, if there was any need to give any invitation to thiefs for burglary – that you are carrying treasure with you – THIS IS IT!
So, what really happened is that our Galaxy quietly but surely has been stealing stars out of the constellation. MILLIONS OF ‘EM!! Do you see the smile on my face? And I thought it was only us!? Man, THIS is the galaxy I would really like to live.. its great to be in a galaxy that GETS stars as opposed to one that LOSES them! Great job!! I could do with a couple of stars in my pocket! Would be great if some of ’em could be sold on EBay to other deficient Galaxies!?
Heck, come to think of it thats a great valentine gift for all of us earthlings! Just in time for it!
We men just pretend we will bring stars for our beloved.. THIS GALAXY ACTUALLY DID IT!! Bravo!!
