The latest India Today has an interesting cover story on the book by Pak Prez Musharraf. Here are some excerpts:
On AQ Khan and North Korea:
“All these explanations sound lame given that Khan frequently flew to North Korea and Iran carrying not just blueprints but actual centrifuges. On his return from North Korea, he was ferrying missiles back to Pakistan. As Sharif pointed out: “Do you think Musharraf, as chief of staff and as the chief executive of the country, had been totally ignorant or what had been happening? Everything was being guarded by his own army. He is the one to be blamed. Khan is being made a scapegoat.”
On the charge that Indians may have benefited from the AQ Khan network as well:
“While Pakistan is dependent on enriched uranium as its source for nuclear weapons, India has taken the plutonium route. Its nuclear arsenal is based largely on plutonium as the core – it is considered at least two and a half times more compact than enriched uranium. India set up a uranium enrichment plant in Mysore way back in the late 1970’s. By then it had already mastered the technology for enrichment. The plant was meant to supply fuel for a proposed nuclear submarine”.
All you can do is say “Nice Try, Mushy! At least get your facts right” If, as a commando, he would go on an operation with facts of such quality.. it is fairly easy to imagine why Pakistan has lost every battle that it initiated against India – badly!!
