Over the recent past I have had issues with the hosting companies that I used. Some are high on space but low on bandwidth and server load… some are the opposite. Some provide you exception tech support some dont.
I run my site on Drupal – which I think is a good Content Management Software. It is a good and powerful one (Idealware comparison; by IBM Internet Technology Group) but it requires the right platform! A friend of mine tried to install at a friend’s server and found that Drupal is specially sensitive when it comes to how the platform – consisting of the Operating system and database and programming language is structured.
After having numerous issues with other hosts.. I finally zeroed in on this one host –Bluehost. The features it offers are good. The one feature that is especially important for me is the way it has fine-tuned the servers and cpanel. They have really turbo-charged the thing! What it meant for me was that so many modules and functionalities that just wouldn’t work elsewhere run flawlessly here.
The main strike against it is that it does not provide any tech support. Heck, even the basic step like moving of my site from another host to them had to be done by a friend for me.. they wouldn’t even help you for that – although you are trying to bring over your business to them! But then I did it anyways.. because the features they had were just top class!
Here are the features it offers to the users for just USD 6.95/month!!
- 200 Gigabyte Hosting Space – this is a BIG one
- web hostingHost 6 Domains on 1 Account!!!
- 2,500 POP/Imap Email Accounts – another biggie
- 2,000 GIGS of Transfer
- SSH (Secure Shell), SSL, FTP, Stats
- CGI, Ruby (RoR), Perl, PHP, MySQL
- 2000/2002/2003 Front Page Extensions
- Free Domain Forever!
- Free Site Builder
- 24/7 Superb/Responsive Sales/Support – this is not very helpful – you are really on your own for tech-support.
Needless to say, I highly recommend Bluehost as an alternative!
