Does this most populous generation in the history of earth outnumber all that have ever lived on earth.. ever?
Well, isnt it strange that the when the population is so high – as has been increasing steadily over the past few decades – and when the technology has grown so much that today’s moral compass is still set by some blokes who started an ideology many centuries ago who claimed they had regular meetings with the God himself! Hey, by probability calculation, if there was any generation that had the highest chance of folks bumping into the ubiquitous God.. then this was it! And the chances of "detecting" that invisible God was highest NOW! But somehow.. our guys – even in the scientific community – swear by Adam and Eve!
Was there ever anyone who "met"/"saw"/"talked to" God? Or was it all a big PR exercise in a world of charlatans with no technology to call their bluff? The question I guess is: Is there a humanly perceptible God?
The human population has swelled so much that people alive today outnumber all those who have ever lived, says a factoid whose roots stretch back to the 1970s. Some versions of this widely circulating rumor claim that 75 percent of all people ever born are currently alive. Yet, despite a quadrupling of the population in the past century, the number of people alive today is still dwarfed by the number of people who have ever lived.
In 2002 Carl Haub, a demographer at the Population Reference Bureau, a nongovernmental organization in Washington, D.C., updated his earlier estimate of the number of people that have ever existed. To calculate this, he studied the available population data to determine the human population growth rates during different historical periods, and used them to determine the number of people who have ever been born.
