Once there were two brothers – Mr. Jay and Mr Kay. Jay was the elder and Kay the younger. Since Jay was the elder, he had assumed most responsibilities – and even though through his childhood, he would get the most rebuke and spanking, he still would keep working – demostrating and talking back sometimes. However, being the elder of the two, he would know that he had to show the way. Kay was unpredictable. A person of VERY strong choices! He only liked milk at a certain temperature – and if it wasn’t provided at that temperature, it was not unusual for the brat in him to pull the entire milk pitcher – with milk meant for others in the household – down and spoil the entire milk!
The tantrums of Kay kept on getting bolder.. and most were aimed at Jay for he got the most attention being the elder. The more pranks Kay would play on Jay, the more angrier Jay would become and in his rage would vow to hurt him, but his Mom would stop him with the argument that Kay was after all his “baby brother”! As if the torn books and swollen toe would be any lesser so because it was the inflicted by Kay and not Shay!! If only the bones could see the person’s age!
There are times when Kay would get so difficlt that Jay would get wild, but despite all of Kay’s outrageous acts that preceded Jay’s reaction, Jay was still asked to remain quiet – because after all Kay was not a “devil” but his “own brother”! So, it was HIS responsibility to take care of him
Kay knew he had one heck of an argument by his side so he could as bold as he could. He went on and on. One day, when he had grown up by now, he finally in his abundant rage he got into a fight with a neighborhood guy (now he is 24 yrs) and hit him with rods till he was unconscious! He was arrested. The parents still went to the Police Station and paid his bailed and got him home. Mother had prepared his favorite dish! Jay was understandably mad! But the argument was still the same! “But he is 24yrs!!” he retorted and left the room.
Yesterday was Kay’s first argument in the murder trial. He might get the death sentence. Who knows?
Does this sound familiar – where the younger and “spoilt” brats become rogues because those around him cannot get over the argument that he is “younger”!!?
The scenario between Majority and Minorities in India is also facing the same curse. Minorities can get away with any demonstration or any killings, but if the majority try it, they are painted black and blue. Of course, there is nary a word about the trangressions of the brats!
