Jesus in HD 82: A Heartwarming Introduction to a Very Gentle Jesus

Jesus in HD 82: A Heartwarming Introduction to a Very Gentle Jesus September 18, 2014

As you will hear in this PODCAST, my faith was in a freefall. Jesus knew exactly what to say, how to say it, and when to say it to bring me back.

What did He say? And what does it mean to you?

You are in for a treat. And so is anyone with whom you share this podcast. A totally biblical view, a – may I say – thoroughly refreshing view of exactly who Jesus REALLY is. From His own lips to your own heart.

But, before we get started, we need to set a foundation based on one verse from the Gospel of Luke:

One day Jesus left the crowds to pray alone. Only his disciples were with him, and he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”

Luke 9:18

If Jesus were to ask this question today, I think many of us would be blown away at the plethora of answers that might rise out of our culture.

But instead of listening to what people say who Jesus is, we need to look carefully at who Jesus, Himself, said He is.  Starting in Matthew 11:28-30:

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

You see, when we have doubts and our faith is in a freefall – when you’re ready to hear it – Jesus will answer your questions and speak to you in a way that you will indeed understand.

When I needed to hear from Him, His invitation to be my “Rabbi” (take my yoke upon you.  Let me teach you…” was exactly what I needed to hear from exactly Whom I needed to hear it from.

He makes this amazing offer to all of us:  we can learn from Him, not because He has endless rules and is stern and wrathful, but because he is “humble and gentle at heart” and we will find rest for our souls when we choose to follow Him.

You see, if  your walk as a Christ-follower causes you anxiety, fear, or stress – you’ve missed the whole point.  Following Christ should bring your rest and peace that comes from His unconditional love.  Jesus says that life as a Christian is easy and the burden He gives you is light.  We just need to love Him and let Him love us.
