(The following was originally published at CareyGreen.com.) Don’t forget to key in with Jesus Christ today. Don’t forget to take that time in your day just to pause and get your mind on track with His purposes. Remember, He promised that when you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, then all the other things that you clamor for and are nervous about will be added to you! So, in your business, relax today. Rest in the Savior.... Read more

Last week ImWaiting spoke in two teen parenting classes.  It was actually follow-up to earlier presentations.  We had a speaker come in and talk about his life, decisions he made, changes he had to make after becoming a parent. Some might say that it would be pointless to have an abstinence-centered presentation in a teen parenting class.  Some might also say since they’ve already had sex they are going to continue to engage in sexual activity.  We say, no to the... Read more

It seems like all I do with my days lately is sit in the front seat of my car all day, driving my kids places.  I don’t even know why I bought a house!  It wouldn’t be so bad if there were a bit of planning done before these chauffeuring outings, but kids just aren’t the best planners. “Dad… I need to be in Chicago… in ten minutes.” “I need to be at a school basketball game… two nights ago.”... Read more

In 624 AD, Muhammad started launching raids against Meccan caravans from Medina, which caused the Meccans to retaliate in larger numbers. That’s when the large-scale battles began, including the Battle of Badr, the Battle of Uhud, and Battle of the Trench. During this time, the Jewish tribesmen of Medina realize that instead of being a peaceful arbiter, Muhammad was bringing about more and more strife to their region.... Read more

When my youngest tells a lie, his tongue sticks straight out involuntarily. My wife and I have cracked the child-lying gene! We are going to become rich through this discovery. Parents around the world will rejoice! My son can marry into your family line and in time, we can wipe out childhood lying altogether! We won’t divulge how we came about this scientific breakthrough, because we don’t need the competition, but I will say this: It involved eating a... Read more

Tom Dreesen is the main reason that I became a comedian. In Chicago, he’s known as the “Godfather of Comedy”. In addition to appearing on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson multiple times, as well as the Late Show with David Letterman – where he also guest hosted from time to time – Tom opened for Frank Sinatra for over a decade. Tom was working with Smokey Robinson at Caesar’s Palace in Lake Tahoe and Frank was performing next... Read more

Welcome to December. Not our December, I’m talking about Jesus’ final December. As John observed in John 10, it was winter, and Jesus was in Jerusalem for what John calls the Feast of Dedication. As we break seal on this story, we are now a mere four months from the crucifixion. When we last left Jesus, He had just healed a man born blind following the Feast of Tabernacles in October. This led to a rather heated confrontation with... Read more

I recently read an article about three conversations parents should have with their kids this year.  In this order: Making smart choices about sex. Building healthy relationships. Avoiding smoking, drugs, and alcohol. We find it interesting that the author thinks that teens should avoid smoking, drugs, and alcohol but not sex. No wonder parents often find it difficult to discuss avoiding sexual behavior with their teens. Parents are given messages that their teens should avoid drugs, alcohol, and smoking... Read more

If Islam is divinely inspired, and then, since then it has been corrupted and now we have a “crazy religion”, then the question rests not on the corruptions, but on the original religion. Is it truly divinely inspired? How do we know? That’s what I’m interested in. What did Muhammad originally teach? Did he teach peace? Did he teach violence?   Does what he originally taught have anything to... Read more

I was on an airplane journey was to Montana. I was to fly out of Burbank to Salt Lake City, then on to Montana.   I felt all grown up – big time ministry woman, hitting the skies.   I love traveling alone. I call these trips, “me and Jesus journeys.” So off I went, feeling like the woman in charge of my own life.   I was shocked at the smallness of the airport, and when I asked the way to... Read more
