Confusion Abounds

Why is it that journalists never get it right?

“Some argue for wider research; others keep focus on defending the faith.”  The implication of the article is that Dan was fired as editor because he opposed progress and wider research.  This is false.

Really?  Is there any way an informed observer of the situation can make this claim?  No one associated with classic FARMS was ever, in any way opposed to “wider research.”

For example, an Institute dedicated to the study of Greek philosophy is not opposed to “wider research” such as studying Greek art and architecture or Greek military history.  Such an institute has a particular focus, which in absolutely no way impies it is opposed to “wider research.”

Please try to at least get the basics right.

Dan’s take on the article here.

Update

At 4:45 (19 Apr. 2013) the Maxwell Institute had this on its web page.  https://www.facebook.com/maxwellinstitute

As of 5:30 it has now disappeared.  Oddly, it does still exist here, but can’t be found on their “wall.”

As of checking in at 6:37, it’s back.

As of 7:15 pm it’s gone again.
