A Ritual of Ice and Fire

A Ritual of Ice and Fire

There are a few times in our lives where everything shifts. A transformation that encompasses all aspects of your life – closing out one book of your life and beginning to write the next. This transition is usually one that can take years to get to the completion point because it is not just spiritual or physical life changes – it is all of it together. It is an ascension of life. These types of transformations deserve a ritual worthy of that movement – a Ritual of Ice and Fire.

This is my ritual for this particular occasion, and the energies are in perfect alignment for it. The moon is coming out of The Well. Mars and Venus sit at the mouth of the Lion. Pluto sits in Capricorn, the planet of transformation and the stars of The Ruler – structures and foundations. The Sun and Mercury are at the heart of Gemini – the Duality in all things.

The Ice

I have been crafting a special water the last three days as the Moon moved from one side of the The Well to the next – from a death to a birth. It has been energized by the sun, the moon, and three strong storms – which is fitting for the storms that it took to get here.

In the morning I will pour some into a cup and speak to it. I will reflect on all my storms that have carried me to this point, holding gratitude for every lesson I emerged with because of them. There is no anger, regret, or sorrow being carried forward – only what I learned through all of it – that wisdom is what I carry with me.

Once this is completed I will freeze the water. Letting it hold all the gratitude and positive emotions I have poured into it. A frozen memory, a spoken account of the journey trapped in the ice, and the emotion of gratitude for the wisdom gained.

The rest of the water will be ingested during the ritual.

The Fire

Tomorrow night we will make a fire and center the ritual around it. The fire represent the end and the beginning. This fire represents igniting the fire within ourselves. New life, new passions, pointing us in a new direction. Through its ashes we will be born into this new life we are crafting.

I will collect the ashes once they have cooled to use in some other creations – perhaps a salt or art piece.

The Ritual

It starts with a story…

Of The Morrigan. (the stories are personal and my journey with them – always an expression of gratitude for our bond)

A Chant/ song

Born of Water

Cleansing – Powerful

Healing – Changing

Higher

(throwing the ice into the flame releasing the gratitude and love)

Prayer to the Ancestors

Blood of my Blood – Those we carry within us

Deep gratitude for the Blessing you have passed

and the storms yet traveled

Bound by Blood – Bound by Love

Prayer to the Land

Land that I stand on

Deep Gratitude for all your blessings

Acceptance of the thorns you grow

We reap what we choose to sow

We celebrate the abundance you bestow

of Water – of Fire – of Earth – of Air

A story… Of Kari.

A Chant/ song

Spirits of the fire come to us

we will kindle the fire

Spirits of fire come to us

we will kindle the fire

We will kindle the fire

Dance the magic circle round

we will kindle the fire

we will kindle the fire

A story of Hel (Goddess)… Where we have been and where we are heading.

*Personal Statement of who I am

Tay-me Un Tay-nee

Tay-me Due-Crusha-Fiona

Devotion Guides me

Faith drives me

Love binds me

Prayer to my Guides

I call in my three Shields

The Morrigan, my Foundation

Kari, God of Voice

Hel, Goddess of The Well

(here is where I will say these words over the water left before the freezing and then drink it)

I drink from your cup

To see what you see, Feel what you feel,

Know what you know.

To walk with you means to have Faith,

Faith requires sacrifice,

Sacrifice does not exist without Love.

(then I will drink the water and sit quietly with the fire, listening and feeling any message they may give during this)

Closing Chant/ song

Family spin your circle bright

weave your web of dark and light

earth – air – fire – water

Bind us as one

Closing Thoughts

The reason I laid out the outline for this ritual is so anyone who might want to use it can, or to give them inspirations to create their own. Although this ritual was crafted for the specific purpose stated in the beginning, it can be altered and shifted to apply to any transformative change or forward movement. You can even alter it to create a needed change – switch the ice aspect to those that have you frozen in place – instead of the gratitude of moving on. Then when you burn it, you are melting those away.

I hope you enjoyed this and it gave you some ideas of your own. Have a wonderful Full Moon!!
