3 Ways to Empower Women on Women’s Day

3 Ways to Empower Women on Women’s Day

International Women's Day is March 8th

Today is International Women’s Day! (what? what?)

Suffice it to say, I LOVE the women God has placed in my life!  And, yeah, even the rare few who get on my last nerve!

Today, one way I’m honoring the women in my life I appreciate is by thinking of them, saying a prayer of thanks & one quick prayer for them.

Additionally, I want to be mindful of the women around the world, the millions of women and girls who lack access to nutrition, education, legal freedom, and healthcare…all things that keep women in poverty.  Here’s 3 ways you can help…

Help Women and Girls Reach their Full Potential

Fund a Microloan
Fund a microloan $25

This International Women’s Day, invest in hardworking women — empowering them to change their own lives and the lives of their children. MICRO helps establish businesses, jobs and daily commerce in communities. For as little as $25, you can invest in a small loan for a determined woman like Maricruz (left). But there’s nothing small about the impact that loan will make.

Education for Girls Share of a Home
Send a girl to school $35
Share of a home for a mother & her children $50
Poverty, discrimination and exploitation keep millions of girls from attending school. What’s more, half of all girls in developing countries don’t even finish primary school. Many of them must work to help their families or simply don’t have the money for educational fees or school uniforms. Your gift will help send a girl to school. In countries like Rwanda, Uganda, and Burundi, single mothers struggle to protect their children. Imagine the desperation of trying to care for your kids in a run-down, leaky hut. Your gift will bring joy to a mother’s heart by providing a new or renovated home where she and her children can feel safe and secure.

Despite our vulnerabilities & the constant struggle for equality since the beginning of mankind, I am so happy to be a women, so happy to be the woman God made ME (in particular) to be & I’m so proud and honored to stand with women who have faithfully used their talents to create triumphs for other women.

As a woman, go help another one.  Give (above) to help women of need succeed.

Tell me, what do you love about being a woman?  Who are you most proud of?  Who are your spiritual midwives & patron saints?
