Just thought you may be interested in reading a guest post, The Dreams of a (very pregnant) Racist that I did for Dr. Rev. Brenda Salter McNeil.  Enjoy! 🙂 Read more

So, I’ve went and done it.  I went & got myself obese.  It’s so unfortunate really.  Especially since not that long ago I’d hit my pre-preggo weight and hoped to take off another 20 pounds as well. *Sigh* Now, before I open up this particular can of worms let’s chat about why I’m sharing this.  After all, it’s nobody’s business but my own.  Secondly, weight is a tricky subject to deal with well and third I don’t want to add... Read more

It’s official.  Life is insane. I’ve been pondering this lately, as I’ve considered the things I need to be sure I’m healthy in the midst of a somewhat chaotic season of life.  What I need the most is: alone time. How often do you want to be alone?  What do you with that time?  Do you feel like your getting enough or are you needing to create those spaced more intentionally? At this stage of life, I look at single... Read more

Here’s my edit free, stream-of-consciousness explanation.  Do forgive the lengthy introduction… I have really been enjoying my relatively new job as IV’s regional BCM coordinator.  (translation: I oversee & organize all of the ministry we do to target a specific niche group -African Americans- on campuses in our region).  It’s been somewhat exhilarating, actually.  However, I’m just as new as can be, so ask me in a year. The learning curve has been steep though.  There are a few things... Read more

Is it the thaw of winter?  The bloom of the flower?  The excitement of going sans a winter coat that makes one want to take Easter pictures on a day set aside to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus? Whatever the case, I thought it’d be fun to go back down memory lane of Easter pictures… Our sweet little Ransom on Easter 2006… I’m not sure what we did in Easter 2007 but I couldn’t find a single picture! Easter 2008,... Read more

It’s been crazy redonkulously busy lately. Any week where I’ve got a work trip, a ton to of stuff to do for home and work life, Dave has two speaking engagements on campus & both of us are doing “over-time” duty with the kids while the other is gallivanting about with IV stuff… …is one busy week. Someone came over today & came in before I got to explain why the house is on the brink of disgusting & I... Read more

Look who pulled himself up to a stand last night? for .5 seconds! Look who can sit up unsupported? for 2.5 seconds. Look who can fall over so fast, Mama’s camera can’t even process it? Rhys is 5 months & 2 weeks old, doing things our first, Ransom didn’t even dream of doing until about 8 or 9 months.  I must say, I am impressed Rhys! Ransom, on the other hand, slept beautifully & perfectly consistently from 8-9 weeks old. ... Read more

I freaked out today.  Oh, the life of an InterVarsity staff worker… I’m in Madison for IV’s Spring Meetings where managers, coordinators & up gather.  I’m here for the final piece of my training as a regional coordinator. Were doing an ongoing 7 hour simulation where we mimic the set up a manager overseeing his/her staff team.  Straight away I thought, “Oh Lord please don’t let me be assigned to the role of the Area Director in the simulation.” And,... Read more

If you’ve been following my tweets you know the saga of our trying to get home from our anniversary vacay. It’s amazing to me that we started packing at 7am and after an elevator ride, a taxi, a shuttle bus, a long flight, a long delay, a shuttle bus, a 2.5 hr. time of “sleep” in a voucher hotel, another shuttle, another delay, another flight, a drive, a sweet reunion with our boys, a brief visit with my friends, Management... Read more
