A few days ago Rhys & I made the trek out to my school, Western Theological Seminary for our annual Christmas luncheon.  It was so much fun to see all my old peeps from last year when I got the wonderful opportunity to spend a whole academic year focused fully on getting my M.Div.  Shouts out to: Bethy, Marla, Sharon, Jill, Jes, Nate, Patricia, Chad, Sandra, Evonne & more.  I love my school!  Marla got a great smiling picture of... Read more

The other day I twittered this, “I’m creating a demand-fed-co-sleeping-sling-wearing-rocked-to-sleep-baby monster. Arrrghgh, I need a system QUICK! Babywise take me away…” & got plenty of comments arguing both sides via facebook.  It’s such an interesting debate because I think a lot of it boils down to the disposition and phase-of-life of the primary caretaker. Little Reesey-Bear will be 7 weeks on Monday.  He was doing great with eating every 3 hours, 24 hours a day with the exception of the... Read more

Of course were all willing to get the fake acetimenophen, orange pop or bacon. But is there anyone in the whole entire world willing to get the fake brand of Oreo’s??? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? (AN46562YF2G4 – Disregard this random code.  It’s for my top secret Alias-like super spy side job in Dubai).  Oops, I wasn’t supposed to tell… Read more

Recently I was ordering a personalized item for Ransom over the phone.  This is how the horrible conversation went… Operator: Rancid? Me: No, RanSOM. Operator: Ramsum? Me: No, RaN. RanSOM. And som, like the sound of some, s-o-m-e Operator: r-a-m? And then s-o-m-e? Ramsome. Me: No, r-a-n. N.N.N. (along with her, getting frustrated). Not some, just like the sound of some, but just s-o-M. Operator: Can, you please spell out his name each letter with a word for it? Me:... Read more

Since I had Rhys 6 weeks ago, I haven’t been able to talk on the phone much.  It just seems like he always needs me and when he’s asleep I must take advantage of the opportunity to either shower, or eat, or sleep, or open mail, or pay bills, or do laundry, or cook dinner, or run errands, or talk to my husband, or play with my 4 year old, or put said 4 year old to bed, etc. etc.... Read more

Guest post from: The Sidewalk Theologian Parents- are you ever terrified when you realize that your kids are picking up your bad habits? Or conversely that you have enough good habits that they’ll learn what’s important to you and emulate these good habits? The other day I trotted down the stairs & Reuben looked at me in our foyer with a big grin on his face and yelled “SHUT UP!” This was so disturbing! Right away I told him “no, we... Read more

On Frank Warren’s website Post Secret, each week he posts 10 of the best secrets he’s received in the mail. He’s called “the high priest of secrets,” & for the last few years people have sent him over 500,000 secrets anonymously. There’s only one rule.  He says, “reveal anything as long as its true and you have never shared it with anyone before.” I’m thinking of sending him a secret. I have two secrets I’ve never told anyone.  Two things... Read more

I do realize my blog has been a shrine to Rhys lately. Who can blame me though? Doesn’t breastfeeding produce some sort of love hormone that makes you feel over the moon in love with a hint of sheer bliss as well? And look at that scowl that says, “you haven’t seen handsome until you’ve seen me.” How could I possibly resist? For this shot I told him to do his best Zoolander model pose… How could I not create... Read more

Thank you Auntie Jodi for my cute Thanksgiving shirt… & Thank you to my Auntie Jean’s Mama, Carolyn for making me this beautiful blanket… Thank you, Mama for finally getting dressed, putting some make-up on and doing you hair.  It’s been 5 weeks for crying out loud! Thank you Auntie Jean for making us all a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t have any on account of having no teeth.  Total Bummer.  Heard I really missed out! Thanks Ransom, Zoe... Read more

A blog wouldn’t be a blog without a post about what on earth this blogger is thankful for on the eve of Thanksgiving. 1.  People.  No, not the magazine.  I’m so thankful this year for how I’ve seen downright goodness in people as so many folks have rallied around us to get our roof built, cook us meals, buy us diapers and other extraordinary acts of kindness.  In stock right now, I have 160 #1 diapers, 98 #2’s & a... Read more
