Hey blogging friends,  I want your help! So, I’m in the middle of a blog transition.  A friend of mine is helping me to revamp this place.  What a long journey it’s been!  Anyway, I’m looking for a new tagline. I, myself, happen to like the one I have: “authentic sentiments of a gabby, bi-racial, thirtysomething gen-x’er on: LIFE. FAITH. CULTURE. RELATIONSHIPS.” 1.  My husband doesn’t like it.  Well, in some ways, “who cares right?” It’s my blog! 🙂  However,... Read more

A few months ago, my hubby & I attended a wedding where at the reception they had the typical photographer photo booth set-up only an atypical request: do something crazy & silly. My idea of course was shot down.  I thought Dave should pose on the floor as paparazzi trying to get pictures up my dress.  We settled on Dave trying to just get shots of me & a friend, Bianca.  Bianca, as you can tell from the pictures, is... Read more

Shame on Oliver Stone.  Growing up, didn’t he learn it’s not nice to be a bully?  This movie was pathetically biased.  It portrayed the entire Bush family in such a horrible light that I seriously doubt they used any insider information whatsoever. You should also know that my position on W is not because I’m a George W. Bush fan.  I think he was an average president at best. No, my horrible review of this terrible movie is that it was... Read more

Spotted these super-duper cute brown, gold-studded gladiators the other day on the clearance rack at TJ Maxx for $15.00.  It’s what, Aug. 20th or something?  Barely even 6 weeks to wear them if I’m lucky? I consider them only if mgmt. will give them to me for $10. Luckily enough, (for some-one like mwa) when I go to try them on, their broken!  Yep, broken!  What fortune!  So, I’m able to negotiate with the manager for $3.50! Don’t call me... Read more

Various studies have basically proven that prettier people, taller men, or even just the general category “white men,” get more perks, are thinner, live longer, make more money, etc.  For this reason, the other day one of my good friends admitted to me she wants her kids to be beautiful, not growing up in the same messed up world where she was treated poorly for dealing with weight issues.  Completely ignored, even. Weighty issues, indeed. In the last week I’ve... Read more

So, I tweeted the other day about how I needed “thicker skin,” with all these “haters” out here.  I was referring to a situation where there’s some misinformed people making judgments about me & other people based on unsubstantiated information.  What’s more, they have never asked me about it & more than that, I didn’t actually do anything wrong.  More than that, it actually affects a lot of people.  It’s just a disaster! What I couldn’t say in 140 characters... Read more

If you read my blog a little over year ago, you remember me laboring on & on & on & on about how fearful I was to go on a 12-month Sabbatical from my day-to-day work with InterVarsity.  I knew once that big change happened all these others would follow… Beginning a new position, having another baby, getting “serious” about my M.Div program, calculated focus on my book, etc. And just like I thought, all of these transitions have piled... Read more

Baby naming has us baffled.  Downright baffled.  I’m convinced we will not come up with a suitable name that we both like for this child.  I say I should get to pick the 1st name as a gift for carrying him for 9 months & he should get to pick the middle name.  He’s not having it. There’s “Rhys” which we both like, only he likes spelled “Reece” (I say too much like Reece’s Pieces) or “Reese” (I say too... Read more
