I previously mentioned the possibility of doing a cheesy Christian version of Rosanna by Toto. Here is my attempt to do something which I think could be taken seriously (although it might still end up being amusing simply because it is a reworking of a Toto song for Palm Sunday or thereabouts). What do you think?
Hosanna
I remember Sunday morning when we found you that donkey for you to ride
Hosanna, Hosanna
I thought that maybe this would be the day you’d tell the world you’re king
Hosanna
I couldn’t believe it when I heard so many people begin to cry
Hosanna, Hosanna
I didn’t understand why you would ever look so sad
Within a week they took you away – Hosanna, yeah
Though you’re gone, still I try to say
With you all the way
Teach me all your ways, Hosanna, yeah
Jesus, all the way
Teach me all your ways, Hosanna, yeah
I heard that they took you outside of the city to be crucified
Hosanna, Hosanna
Nailing you upon the cross they said, “Behold your king”
Hosanna
I heard about something that was said by a centurion who saw you die
Hosanna, Hosanna
He said, “Surely this man was the son of God.”
Two thousand years since you went away – Hosanna, yeah
Still you’re gone and we try to say
With you all the way
Teach me all your ways, Hosanna, yeah
Jesus, all the way
Teach me all your ways, Hosanna, yeah
