I found this funny. But there is a serious side to it. The truth is that young-earth creationists really do redact and selectively quote scientists to try to support their own bogus claims. And the substitution of โGodโ in the place of a lengthy summary of scientific evidence, in addition to being comical, illustrates the more serious problems with those who treat the two as competing. Why not do the same to everything? When the weather report comes on, why not replace words that come after โdue toโ (such as โhigh pressure systemโ or โhumidityโ) with a long, droning of the word โGodโ? Why not do the same at your doctorโs appointment โ โYour stomach pains are caused by an ulcer, which may be due to stress or dietย Godโ?
If you feel threatened by science, it shouldnโt be just the biological and astrophysical material on Cosmos, but all of it. And if you can make your peace with science, then you ought to be able to embrace Cosmos without the need for a voice-over.
