Troubled British starlet turned troubled British young mom Peaches Geldof, daughter of Sir Bob Geldof, has reportedly traded one controversial belief system for another. According to the Guardian, Peaches recently tweeted about her belief in Thelema, also known as OTO, a black magic religion created by the famed occultist Aleister Crowley. One of those tweets was a picture of her new “OTO” tattoo. Before this, Geldof was connected with Scientology and spent time living at their Celebrity Centre in LA,... Read more

Considering that the Anne Frank House is probably the best-known attraction in Amsterdam, it’s not unusual when visiting celebrities stop by. But when Justin Bieber went there yesterday, he didn’t quite focus on the seriousness of the place. According to the museum’s Facebook page, Bieber and his entourage stopped by, and the pop star left a note in the guestbook on his way out: “Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would... Read more

Since the original series of Teen Mom ended last year, one of the show’s stars, Farrah Abraham, has desperately tried to stay relevant. She released a book, an album, and a line of pasta sauce, then got a DUI. A few days ago, rumors began to swirl that Farrah had made a sex tape. The truth is slightly more complex: she didn’t make a sex tape, she made a straight-up porn movie with porn star James Deen. (Side note: a... Read more

I absolutely loved Vanessa Bayer‘s “Jacob the bar mitzvah boy” character the first time she popped up, so I’m thrilled that she made a repeat appearance on Saturday Night Live last weekend. Jacob appeared on Weekend Update to teach Seth – and the audience, presumably – about the meaning of Passover. Her impression of an awkward, dorky bar mitzvah kid is actually so perfect that I break out in hives while watching her. Read more

Over the last week, a very well-organized and well-executed hoax started happening online. Someone created a fake website and Twitter account for Rev. Joel Osteen, one of the best-known pastors in the country. The website and Twitter (both using the close-but-not-quite-there name “Joel Osten” in the urls) claimed to be authored by Osteen and said that he was giving up on Christianity and didn’t believe in it anymore. While that would make for a pretty insane story if it did... Read more

Cat Power, aka Chan Marshall, sports a cross necklace in her new video for “Manhattan.” Normally, that might not be interesting. But Marshall has spoken out against religion many times in the past and even called it a “pyramid scheme” on Twitter recently, so what’s with the neckwear all of a sudden? If you want a sense of exactly how not-interested-in-religion Marshall is, here’s an excerpt from a very revealing interview in Dazed magazine: My dad was a Jehovah’s Witness.... Read more

The period between the Jewish holidays of Passover and Shavuot is known as the omer. Religious Jews will count down these 49 days, aka “counting the omer.” But the omer just became way more fun thanks to a new Tumblr called Counting the Omar, which posts a different picture of Omar Little from the TV show The Wire every day. I mean, who doesn’t appreciate a little extra Michael K. Williams in life? Read more

Josh and Anna Duggar recently announced that a) they’re expecting another kid this summer and b) they’re moving to DC so Josh can take a job in politics. Now, we can update you on item A: the baby is going to be a boy. That will bring their total to one girl and two boys, and it also probably means that poor Mackynzie will be in charge of raising her two kid brothers buddy-system-style once the family starts to get... Read more
