Forgiveness Through the Resurrection
The resurrection of Jesus teaches us about forgiveness. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus made the forgiveness of sins possible. In 1 Corinthians 15:3 (NKJV), Paul writes, “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.” This shows that Jesus fulfilled His mission to save us. An example of this is when the woman caught in adultery received forgiveness from Jesus (John 8:11, NKJV). Just like her, we can receive forgiveness because of His resurrection. These are the lessons of forgiveness and joy.
Spreading Forgiveness to the World
Because of Jesus’ resurrection, forgiveness is available to everyone. Jesus said in Luke 24:47 (NKJV), “that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations.” His resurrection gave believers the power to spread this message of forgiveness. For example, Peter, who denied Jesus three times, received forgiveness and then preached to thousands about the risen Christ in Acts 2:38 (NKJV). His life changed because of the resurrection, and he brought the message of forgiveness to others.
Resurrection Brings Lasting Joy
In addition to forgiveness, the resurrection brings joy. Jesus told His disciples, “You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy” (John 16:20, NKJV). When the disciples saw Him alive again, they were filled with happiness. An example of this is when Mary Magdalene and the other women left the empty tomb with great joy after hearing that Jesus had risen (Matthew 28:8, NKJV). Christians today also experience deep joy because of their faith in the risen Jesus, knowing He has overcome death.
Transforming Suffering into Peace
The resurrection shows us how suffering can be transformed into peace. Jesus’ resurrected body still carried the scars from His crucifixion. In John 20:27 (NKJV), He told Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side.” These scars remind us that God can transform suffering into something beautiful. When Jesus said to His disciples, “Peace to you!” (John 20:21, NKJV), He showed that even after great pain, God can bring peace. This peace is available to everyone who believes in Him.
Ongoing Forgiveness Through Resurrection
The resurrection empowers ongoing forgiveness. After Jesus rose from the dead, He forgave Peter for denying Him. In John 21:15-17 (NKJV), Jesus asked Peter three times, “Do you love Me?” and gave him the chance to make things right. This shows that forgiveness is a continual process. Christians today are called to forgive others just as Jesus forgave Peter. For example, in Matthew 18:21-22 (NKJV), Jesus teaches us to forgive “seventy times seven,” showing that forgiveness should be ongoing and endless.
Hope and Joy for Eternity
Finally, the resurrection brings lasting joy and hope. Romans 6:9 (NKJV) says, “Knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.” This means Jesus’ victory over death gives Christians unshakable joy. It also gives hope beyond this life, as Jesus said in John 11:25 (NKJV), “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” An example of this hope is the promise of eternal life for those who believe in Him. This hope strengthens believers as they face challenges, knowing that eternal joy awaits.
Lessons of Forgiveness and Joy
So basically, the resurrection of Jesus teaches us about forgiveness and joy. Romans 4:25 (NKJV) says, “who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.” This shows how His resurrection provides us with both forgiveness and the ability to live in joy. We can now overcome sorrow and suffering through the power of His resurrection. By learning these lessons, we can share the message of forgiveness and joy with others, just as the disciples did after Jesus rose from the dead. The lessons of forgiveness and joy continue to inspire believers today.
