Here’s the quirkiest funny movie I’ve seen in years. (If you missed it in the theaters, as I did its time to see it now.
“What We Do in the Shadows” is the ultimate “mocumentary” reality TV-style feature film (yes they have a sense of humor in New Zealand!) about what bachelor vampires’ lives are really like. If you loved “This is Spinal Tap” and/or the original British version of “The Office” then this movie is for you.
Here’s how the New York Times described the movie…
Set in modern-day Wellington, New Zealand (the exterior of the vamps’ house is the headquarters of Peter Jackson’s production company), this weird and witty spoof filters the routines of the living through the lens of the long dead. For our gang of ghouls, encounters with passing werewolves — whose full-moon preparations are ingeniously telescoped into a hilarious aside — are ultimately less problematic than figuring out how to look good when you have no reflection. Or getting into a hot club without a direct invitation.
Don’t miss this movie and then please post your reaction here!
