The church is the home of God and we are its servants. It is our responsibility to do our best to keep it as well-maintained as possible. Everything needs maintenance or it wears off with time. A neat and clean church will attract more people to prayer and church services. We wouldn’t want people to stand praying on a flooded floor or in a blackout or seated in hot and sweltering sermon with no ac going. A church is a big building and has a lot of things to take care of. If not worked efficiently with a plan, it can be very challenging to maintain. That’s why I will now share these five church building maintenance tips with you:
Clean the Church Every Morning
Cleaning the church every morning will ensure it always looks its best. You don’t have to wash it thoroughly, just mild sweeping to get the dust out would be more than enough. The dust becomes a nuisance when it’s not cleaned on time. It should be done early in the morning before people start to visit, so it’s all clean and prepared for them.
Make Saturday Volunteer’s Day
Saturday should be the official washing and maintenance day of the church as there will be a lot of visitors on Sunday. If you have enough budget and employees, do it yourself; otherwise, you can acquire the help of volunteers. Set Saturday as a volunteer’s day when community members will come to help you with the church’s cleaning and other tasks. If you don’t have a lot of volunteers, you can acquire little help from professionals. Divide volunteers into groups and assign them dates that come on Saturdays if you have more volunteers than you need. In either of the case, you will need the assistance of professionals.
Schedule HVAC Maintenance
Main departments that require the hand of a professional are Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). Schedule monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, or annually maintenance (depending on your budget) of all these things by their professionals. They will identify and solve all issues which could cause more problems if not dealt with on time. You should particularly take care of air conditioning so the visitors won’t have any issues. Get AC repair services to ensure they always are working at their best.
Training for Every Employee and Volunteer
If they don’t know what they are doing, they might end up messing more things than they solved. They may be able to patch things temporarily, but those solutions won’t be reliable. If you have a good number of staff and volunteers, train them to get efficient church maintenance. You can hire a professional to teach for certain set skills which could be useful for the church. For example, you can train a team for electrician’s work, one for plumbing, and one for cleaning.
How You Can Save Energy
See if there is any time when the energy is being wasted. You can do it yourself or hire a professional for an energy audit to tell you how you can save electricity. This will not only enhance the life of all electronics but also save you money from the bills. This will also ensure the community that their donations are not going to waste and that they have a man who values their help. You can use that money saved from the bills at something else that requires more attention. Always ensure air conditioners and heaters are not running where there is no one in the room or hall. Turn the lights on only during visiting hours, and you don’t have to illuminate the entire building if not needed. If possible also replace the old electronic items and wires to ensure no energy goes to waste.
