It’s Your Journey

It’s Your Journey

You may be out, or you may still be in the closet. You may be terrified of telling your parents. You may be the parents.

Whoever you are, wherever you are on this journey, please remember… It’s your journey.

There is no one right way – and there is no one right timeframe.

It’s about your life. It’s about your child.  It’s your journey.

Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for wherever you are in this difficult process.

And never, ever let anyone make you feel bad or ashamed for simply loving and accepting your child, or wanting unconditional love from your parents and family.

Wherever you are, you are doing just fine.

Any friend who makes you feel judged and condemned may be someone you need to hold very loosely with an open hand.

Any pastor who makes you feel judged and condemned – especially by God – is completely distorting the truth.

Their counsel to you is probably born out of their own lack of understanding and acceptance of God’s love for them, and out of fear.

You are doing fine. There are better days ahead.

You do not have to compromise your faith in order to love and be loved.

In fact, the reward at the end of this rainbow-colored journey may indeed result in a much deeper relationship with God, a deeper ability to love and show compassion to others and to receive love and grace, and a heart that is free to be love and be loved by God and others. If you just stay on the path, and follow where God leads your heart. you will find a peace that passes understanding.

And I want you to know you are not alone. It’s your journey, but you can connect with others to find comfort and solidarity.  Let’s go through this together.
