Ciao!

Ciao! May 11, 2010

Hello Friends,

We have returned from our Roman Holiday! There’s so much to share; I’m not sure where to begin. We arrived in Rome after a bus ride, a flight, another flight, and a train. We collapsed in a heap at our hotel in the afternoon of May 1st, woke up a few hours later just in time for a dinner of a-mazing pizza and gelato. My love affair with gelato began that evening and continued to grow over the course of the week.

That’s the pizza we ate: margherita with basil for me, olives, sardines, and artichokes on Eric’s half. So delicious!

We stayed at a small and cute hotel near the train station, and also near this church: Santa Maria Maggiore.

The first full day of our trip was to the colosseum, the forum, and to tour the ruins of ancient Rome.

That’s me in front of the Colosseum, the next one is Atticus in front of the Arch of Constantine

This is in the Roman forum, ruins of various pagan temples.

I have a lot more pictures and stories, but for now I’ll just put these! We saw so many beautiful, magnificent, and inspiring things. We also experienced many moments of simple pleasure and spiritual awe. I’m going to work on collecting my thoughts and putting together a more detailed post, but until then, I hope you enjoy some photos!
