Sick, Sick, Sick!

Sick, Sick, Sick!

We’re sick over here. Can’t breathe, blow your nose until it’s raw, watery eyes, sore throat, and oh yeah it’s 96 degrees outside sick.  I came down with it on Saturday, and then Maggie got sick on Monday.

Then yesterday, Wednesday, I finally went to to the doctor because I was feeling some pain in my ear. It felt like when you’re on an airplane and your ear needs to pop. It felt like that for three days, and by yesterday I was hurting so much I didn’t have the energy to do anything but lay around.

I trot off to the doctor; he takes one look in my ear and says, “Oh my. It looks angry in there.”

Yes, the 27 year old with an 8 month old infant has an ear infection. I thought only babies and kids got ear infections? Not that I’m complaining, I’d rather have one than Maggie have one, for sure. So I’m taking amoxicillian for the first time since I was around 12.

Antibiotics, ear drops, and lots of NyQuil for Mom, and nasal syringes, saline drops, and lots of sleeping in her stroller for Maggie. And of course Atticus started his new job this week! Couldn’t have everyone get sick last week when he was home, of course not. Luckily, he has not gotten sick, though I know he’s been tired from long nights with Maggie while I’m passed out with a tissue in my nostril.

That’s why things have been so quiet over here for the last few days. I had the best intentions of spending all day yesterday writing when Atticus’ mom was babysitting, but instead I slept and went to the doctor, with several hours spent lying on the couch moaning. I’ll hopefully have some time for writing this weekend, since our fantastic Labor Day trip to Chicago was cancelled. I am so bummed.

But at least there’s Notre Dame football and a holiday on Monday to cheer me up!

Guess who’s going to be wearing the first of several “game day” outfits chosen just for her?? I have seriously been waiting for over a year for the joy of dressing my child in Notre Dame apparel on a game day. Not even an ear infection can steal that joy.

Keep your eyes peeled for photos.
