*** 1 *** Today is the feast of St. Therese of Lisieux! Hooray for the little flower. We will pray some special prayers to her today, and maybe get some roses for the house. But I think the best way to celebrate this saint’s day is by doing little unseen things for the people in our lives. After all, that’s what got her to Heaven. Shower of Roses (a really cute blog!) has a wonderful roundup of recipes, craft, and... Read more

I’m still learning what love is, Everyday I wake up in your arms I’m still trying to figure out what works; How to set off all your alarms I’m still learning what love is, When I’m walking close to you The best way to hold your hand in mine, The best ways to comfort you Guess it may, Guess it may — It may always be this way I’m still learning what love is, Every time you look at me... Read more

As today is a busy, busy day filled with errands, ob-gyn appointment, ultrasound, and lamaze class, I am re-posting (with a few updates!) this post on the feast of the angels from last fall. Enjoy! So tomorrow is one of my favorite feast days in all the Church — the feasts of Sts. Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael! Gabriel and Raphael are cool, for sure, but I have a soft spot in my heart for St. Michael. Of course, Atticus and... Read more

She has a sorority event in town on Saturday evening, but we’ll get to spend some time with them this evening and tomorrow during the day. It should be a lot of fun! Perhaps there will be apple picking? I’ll let you know! *** 2 *** We broke down and got a Sam’s Club membership. We didn’t do the... Read more

There is a facility that performs abortions two blocks from my house. (I refuse to use the word “clinic” — a “clinic” is a place where people are helped, not killed. It’d be like calling death row a “health center”. Give me a break.) Today is a killing day. Tomorrow is a killing day at this facility. While I’m sitting in my living room feeling my daughter dance inside me, someone else’s daughter is being ripped limb from limb. (The... Read more

We have completed two of our seven childbirth classes. Going into the first class, I was pretty terrified by the idea of birthing this little girl. Coming out of that first class, I was still terrified of giving birth. And I didn’t know why. I mean, yes, fearing the pain is a part of it, but there’s more to it. I couldn’t put my finger on it exactly, but thinking about what we learned in that first class after the... Read more

Ladies, I don’t know if you read Simcha’s blog. She is a hilarious, Hebrew Catholic, mother of eight. This week there have been some serious discussions going on over there about something that seems somehow … not all that serious. Between two posts, there have been 500 comments! What you ask, could garner such a conversation? One word. Pants. Particularly, women in pants. Yes, this still seems to be an issue. Lady GaGa wore a dress made of meat (M-E-A-T)... Read more

I went to confession yesterday before Mass. I never, ever go often enough. I don’t think I’m the only one, but I pretty much always go about two or three weeks longer than I really should between them. Since I finally did go, now I feel all bright and shiny like a new penny. 🙂 Also, attending a the baptism of a friend’s baby yesterday, and spending some time with said baby, I think has jump started my nesting hormones... Read more

For more wonderful quick takes, visit Jen at Conversion Diary! *** 1 *** I am now in my sixth month of pregnancy! I’m of course thrilled, but also, starting to realize just how much needs to get done before the baby is born! – finish the nursery (put together crib, re-cover the second hand glider, wash, put away/hang all the baby’s clothes, set up diaper station, etc.) – CLEAN the house! (I may elicit some help with that one!) –... Read more

A few weeks ago, Rebecca did a “Can of Worms” series on Catholics and Voting/Public Life. I did a guest post for that series. However, I wish I had read Mark Shea’s post on a similar topic before I wrote my post, because I would have quoted it. As such, I’m going to quote it now. Because it’s basically how I view politics and voting in this day and age. “I have abandoned the game of supporting candidates who advertise... Read more
