When Paul wrote his now famous letter to the Romans, he had not yet visited the city or the Christians there. He wrote to encourage and equip these early believers with the knowledge of the Christian faith, yet he began with one clear statement. It is found in verse 16:
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.
For Paul, his stand regarding the message of Jesus was unashamed. He had no reason to hide his faith, be afraid of it, or tamper with its message. The gospel had changed his life; now he sought to communicate it to change the lives of others.
The same is true in our lives today. As followers of Jesus, his message has changed us. Why would we not want to share it? Why would we ever hide it or change it?
Let us live today unashamed, thankful for God’s change in our hearts and eager to help others in their journey.
