6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
What is cheerful giving? Apparently, it has little to do with the amount we give and everything to do with the attitude with which we give.
The Apostle Paul said little about a percentage or even a number. Instead, he made a promise. The person who gives sparingly will receive sparingly. The one who gives generously will receive generously. He doesn’t promise that those who give more money will make more money. Paul spoke more holistically about life, both now and in eternity.
Money is neither good nor evil. It can be a blessing or a curse or simply a number or piece of paper or a coin. Yet money reveals the attitude of the heart more quickly than almost any other physical possession. As a result, we do well to pay attention to how we deal with finances, working diligently to use what God blesses us with for the good of others and with eternity in mind.
Whatever you have today, whether small or large, be a cheerful giver. God is watching, not to criticize, but to celebrate. He loves to catch his children being generous givers in action.
