Genesis 21: A Promise Fulfilled

Genesis 21: A Promise Fulfilled 2012-01-30T10:07:30-05:00

“1 Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised. 2 Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him. 3 Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him. 4 When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God commanded him. 5 Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.” -Genesis 21:1-4

Abraham fathered a child at the age of 100. This was a miracle! It was also the fulfillment of a promise. Long ago, God had promised Abraham would have a son from his own wife. What seemed impossible to Abraham and Sarah was the method the Lord used to show his strength.

God continues to operate in ways that surprise us. We may think God’s methods are incredible or supernatural. For him, our impossible is his normal. Our goal is to walk by faith even when the odds are against us. We may see God fulfill his promises in some unexpected ways in our lives, even today.
