This map, from the New York Times, claims to be about how many women are in the workforce, vs. staying at home, but it’s really about labor force participation in general, for men and women, and, helpfully, it excludes retirees, unlike the data I was looking at the other day.
The Florida panhandle? Significantly fewer men than women working. Similarly low rates in Kentucky/West Virginia. One county in New Mexico has only 28% of men working. Unfortunately, since the Times is interested in where the stay-at-home moms, they don’t pay attention to this.
