The vlog is a recording of some prophetic words and discerning.  Some of the Building Contenders team led a conference at Family of Christ Church, Petoskey, Michigan.  I really enjoyed the session on dream interpretation, along with the whole day that we were able to attend, start to finish.  I couldn’t believe we were sitting there watching these guys scale the heights.

Prayer Resources

This portion of this article is for those who are in prayer mode leading up to Easter, and for those who would like to add a little form to their prayer mix.

I thoroughly enjoy spontaneous prayer, calling out on the Lord as an individual or in pastoral prayer groups.  However, I’ve also learned to appreciate forms of prayer.

One of the catalysts for my appreciation of forms of prayer has been that over the years I’ve realized that the Psalms are quoted and read worldwide.  They’re the primary prayer book of Judeo-Christian communities.

One form I’ve used for over a decade is a simple one

  1. Call upon The Name, actually using a name for God
  2. Expound on the meaning of The Name
  3. Express gratitude and thankfulness before any request
  4. Make a request, “so that we . . .” We know how to make requests, but do we know why we are making requests?  The request is best couched in terms like “so that we . . .” to give our request meaning and purpose.
  5. Close the prayer in the authority of the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, or something like invoking the Trinity.

St. Patrick’s Breastplate

This is an updated translation by John Eldredge.

John & Stasi Eldredge may be best known for writing the two books Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man’s Soul, and Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman’s Soul

They also post prayers that are free to download in .pdf form.

St. Patrick’s Breastplate is great to pray year round, because it’s evergreen.

Do you remember Father Jarvis?

He is the first person to dialogue with me on Patheos on Lent and Fasting

He also recommends A Prayer to the Holy Spirit that we pray as a means of asking the Spirit for His Virtues to minister through us.
