Tonight somebody said “Happy New Year” as we chatted for a moment.
My first reaction was “Yom Kippur,” which was actually last week.
I never quite know with this person who really has the upper hand with Hebraic Scripture, customs, interpretation, etc.
So I poked around in old journals. There’s always some significance to this window of days for me, usually some discerning process.
a college fair to remember
At one point, my guesstimate is sometime around now October 2018, I attended a college night with Mateo at the Hagerty Center where plenty of universities were represented. It was a college fair to remember: the professionalism of the University of Michigan, the cohort model at Norte Dame, everything about Spring Arbor including the one lady who kept talking about the worship college at Bethel, Simpson, or something.
I guess four years have passed since that stroll with him but there are so many details that will never fade to grey. I knew we’d find something and we did.
The great temptation was to stay put and not risk anything, but even God asked Elijah, “What are you doing here?”
Such was the night, so it’s like a turn of a new year in a way.
Many difficult choices are still being made, but I don’t want the Lord to keep confronting me with the question he asked Elijah, and my son would like to depart from the cave too.
We’re in different locations now, but that night marked a significant shift.
for fun
I have some geeky ways of doing searches on the internet so when I searched happy new year, here’s what surfaced in two types of searches… strange.
I wound up right here in the middle of the gulf. I am not sure I want to make landfall. My grandpa did missions and freshwater well digging in the region. However, I have heard it’s possible that a lion could be roaming some of those hills. I’m sure he’s not a tame lion.
Yes, somehow I landed on another English soap opera. I did a little bit of reading. I admit it’s not an academic journal. It was more like tabloids. However, it appears that some couples who have a rocky relationship on the screen actually have a very decent home life.
Funny thing, I could do my hair just like that.
No I wasn’t trying. Any connection with real names and people is merely an outlandish coincidence.
Happy Yom Kippur a week late!
Happy new year, fresh start, etc.
